Hollywood actor Richard Gere might have never thought in his dreams also that his warm act to express love or respect will put him in trouble. Now, Richard Gere is the most wanted man in India. Reason- he has committed the crime of kissing Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty publicly.

Gere swept Shetty into his arms and kissed her several times on her cheek at an event in New Delhi last week while promoting AIDS awareness.

In response to a petition filed by a local lawyer Poonam Chand Bhandar, a court in northern city of Jaipur has issued arrest warrants for both the lawbreakers and for this Gere and Shetty could face three months jail, fine, or both.

Gere and Shetty ‘transgressed all limits of vulgarity and have the tendency to corrupt the society,’ PTI quoted the judge as saying.

The judge watched the video of Gere kissing Shetty and found him guilty of violating Indian laws against public obscenity.

The court also summoned Celebrity Big Brother’s winner Shilpa Shetty to appear before the court on May 5.

But her rep, Dale Bhagwager, denying the reports said that the actress had not any court order or summons. He said Shetty had not done anything wrong.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ star, a devout Buddhist and a vocal supporter of the Tibetan cause visits India frequently to meet Dalai Lama. He said,

Me kissing the girl on the cheek was nothing.

There is a very small right-wing, very conservative political party in India and they are the moral police in India … they do this kind of thing quite often.

The protestors in India burnt effigies of Gere and Shetty after newspapers published pictures of the kissing on their front pages and TV channels aired footage of the event.

However, Shetty said that it was not obscene. She said Gere was only reenacting his moves from the film ‘Shall We Dance?’ o entertain the audience at the AIDS event and communicate in a Bollywood style as he did not speak Hindi.
