Is India really trying hard to stop child labour?

Child labor has come to be accepted by a huge section of Indian population. It is continuing to flourish despite court orders banning and strict orders against those employing children below the age of 14. Now the Honorable Supreme Court has ordered the circus companies from employing children for dangerous circus games and instructed the government to rescue such children.

But the child workers have permeated into many industries including the dangerous glass and firework factories. There appear to be 40 to 50
million such children working for meager wages, sleeping for a few hours and malnourished. Despite rules framed, it is difficult to find and punish such employers due to practical problems.

When questioned on the wisdom of such parents, they retort saying that every one has to work to eat a morsel as all of them live on meager income. In fact, some of the families find such children support even the elders due to their age or bad habits of the father. This is human right violation no doubt. But every step to curb this menace comes to a dead end, as the government has no schemes for social welfare. Such children are school drop outs and later even turn out to be criminals.

It is heart rending to watch a child washing plates in a hotel where you sit to eat or children compelled to beg at signals if they are too young to work. Is India shining story not extending to such young souls who are the future citizens?

Lack of access to proper education in remote areas drives such children to resort to work. Should the country adopt each and every child born and bring them up even at the cost of tax money? Will the corrupt money of politicians stashed in overseas accounts take care of such a massive child support effort of the nation?

There can be a one time pardon to such politicians to bring such black money to India and put to use for child development. Can the government try and bring such unlawful money to put to use for lawful education for the poor and the not so fortunate future citizens of India?
