Is technology is a bane or a boon?

Technology these days has been reduced to a fashion item. The innumerable smart phones and tablets and other gadgets which hit the stores each day , makes us want to buy them instantly. We do not care whether we actually need them or not. All we care is whether our friend or class mate has it or own.   We judge a person’s worth by the gadget he owns thus it is a bane.

Yet it is also true that it is very wrong to judge technology by its first impression. We must give it some time before declaring it to be a bane or a boon. Even the best of things were discarded when they were first discovered but later on they were accepted worldwide by one and all. Recently the Google glass made it to the headlines. It was supposed to be a really great discovery carried out jointly by Ray Ban and Google but later it was said that this was simply an over hyped innovation which has very little practical use. It would make a person look geeky . why should one wear such a weird looking glass when smart phones are the current fashion. Many say that change is the key to achieve social advancement. The secret is to keep re launching a product again and again but in a different packaging. This will make it the consumers get attracted to it without thinking much about its real worth and forget whether it’s a bane or a boon.

It would be ungrateful on our part not to recognize how immense the boons are which modern technology has given to mankind. Can we think of living without computers, mobile phones, electricity or modern methods of publishing? We all know the impact of technology in medical science & education system on us.  Technology has made our life easy, comfortable, simple and luxurious. Technology is supporting human so much that now a person can work from his home. It has helped a lot in uniting people. In fact with the help of internet the world has just turned in to a global village. Yes, technology & scientific invention has its disadvantages also. Television & Computer Technology makes one lazy and obese. We are unable to walk even for a short distance, because we became so used to taking out our car even for a short distance.
