Hamas – the Islamist party that runs the Gaza Stripe after winning a democratic election – has accused Israel of seeking to “corrupt” Palestinian youth by dropping sex-inducing gum over the blockaded Gaza Stripe.
“We have discovered two types of stimulants that were introduced into the Gaza Strip from Israeli border crossings
“The first type is presented in the form of chewing gum and the second in the form of drops,” Hamas spokesman Islam Shahwan stated.
Hamas said they were able to arrest Palestinian men who then stated that they were given the gum from Israeli intelligence officers for free for distribution among the youth in Gaza.
The gum is meant to increase the sex drive of youth and Hamas states that is an Israeli ploy to “corrupt” Palestinian youth.
The Israelis have not issued much of a comment except to call the accusation “absurd.”
And it probably is. Israel does a lot of bad things to the Palestinians, but this is not likely one of them.
And this is not to say that just a ploy would be a bad thing. After all, Palestinians having more sex means more Palestinians means the Palestinians are stronger in their land.
Thus Israel is not going to pass around such a gum – as if youth need a sexual stimulus – for it would undermine its goal or weakening the Palestinians.
But gum or no gum, the Palestinians will continue to have sex and babies.
