Martial arts action star Jackie Chan has always emerged safe and sound from life threatening stunts. But the cantopop star’s acting career seems to be in lurch as Chan is feared quitting movies after he hurt his back while filming a stunt that went wrong.

The Dragon Lord star suffered “excruciating pain” when he was shooting for his forthcoming film The Forbidden Kingdom that is set for a release next spring. The film is a US teen’s fantasy excursion to ancient China to rescue a mythological monkey king in which Jackie is co-stared with Jet Li.

The daring stunt left Chan in deep agony. The brave action hero said:

I had to walk down three steps and join Jet Li for one scene, and each time my feet hit the steps, pain shot through my back.

Earlier in 1987, Chan escaped death while filming Armour of God as he fractured his skull that resulted in a permanent hole in his head. Later he dislocated his pelvis and has broken his fingers, toes, nose, both cheekbones, hips, sternum, neck and ribs on various occasions while performing stunts.

Chan holds the Guinness World Record for Most Stunts By A Living Actor and has assured his fans that he is “recovering nicely”.
