This one is for the records. It was just last Thursday that we discussed about Jacko announcing his final performances in London, and now we are served with a stunner that his 50-date residency at the O2 arena in London have completely sold out.

According to BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat, Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour has become the fastest-selling in history, with 11 seats sold each second. Hundreds of fans queued at the windows as tickets went on sale to the public. Besides, over a quarter of a million people queued for the tickets online. As of now, more than a million tickets have been sold, including some 360,000 tickets that were sold to registered fans before sales opened on Friday morning.

Randy Phillips of AEG Live (the promoters) is so thrilled by the response that he asked Jackso if he would do more dates. In his own words,

That wasn’t anticipated. We never thought ’50 shows’ and frankly based on the queues on Ticketmaster, plus the 300,000 registrants we still haven’t issued codes to, we could spend two years here.

Mike asked me how long he would be in the United Kingdom for and I told him, probably long enough to get a British passport.

Didn’t I tell you Jacko’s a smart guy? He can actually feel the pulse of his fans.
