Jacko’s mom granted temporary control over kids and estate

Michael Jackson’s mother was granted limited control over his deceased son’s estate in a court hearing yesterday. Katherine Jackson, 79, also gets the temporary guardianship of Jacko’s three children.

A Superior Court judge issued order on Monday after Katherine Jackson expressed concerns about ensuring that Jacko’s three children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (Prince Michael) 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7 are the beneficiaries of his estate.

This might actually prove beneficial for the children because Jacko has left a collection of 200 unpublished songs exclusively for his children (which have the potential to earn a fortune for the kids), but there’s a strange stipulation that the children need to live with Jacko’s mother to reap the benefits.

On the other hand, Deborah Rowe, Jacko’s ex-wife and the mother of his two oldest children, is reportedly seeking full custody of the children. But it is highly complicated for her to pose a real threat to Katherine because she had already distanced herself officially from the children during the 2006 custody struggle.

A hearing on the request for Jackson’s estate is set for July 6, while a hearing over guardianship has been set for Aug 3. Let’s hope this custody battle doesn’t get too ugly.
