Janet Jackson shops in peace

Janet Jackson, who is in Europe promoting her new album 20 Years Old got the rare chance of shopping in peace on an off day in Paris.

Bosses of high-end fashion boutiques Hermes and Colette agreed to shut their stores down for her, so that the singer could browse through and shop to her heart’s content peacefully.

Jackson admits that it’s one of the luxuries she most enjoys about being famous. She says, “I like it like this when you can come to the store and they leave the place open for you and you can get to run around and just really look.”

Strangely, Hermes bosses agreed to keep their store open late for Jackson after creating a storm of controversy in June 2005 by turning Oprah Winfrey away when she tried to gain entry after the close of its business day. Hermes had faced a lot of criticism then, on the grounds of racial discrimination. Well, you don’t make mistakes twice.
