John Travolta gives a refreshing interview in the July issue of W magazine as he shares his thoughts and goes on to defend Tom Cruise on his stance against psychiatry and drugs.
Speaking about the incident of 2005, when Tom Cruise publicly criticized Brooke Shields on NBC’s ‘Today’ show for taking anti-depression drugs, Travolta identifies with the situation and supports Cruise’s thinking. Travolta says,
I don’t disagree with anything Tom says. How would I have presented it? Maybe differently than how he did, but it doesn’t matter. I still think that if you analyze most of the school shootings, it is not gun control. It is (psychotropic) drugs at the bottom of it.
Travolta, 53, is one Hollywood actor who is famous for his off-the-cuff lifestyle. The actor further defends his own freedom in his unique style by saying,
I don’t want to create controversy; I just have an opinion on things, and there is nothing wrong with stating your opinion if you are asked. Everyone wants that right, and because you are famous doesn’t mean you have less of a right.
The married father of two feels there should be no discrimination based on a persons social status and his level of fame. Indeed, Travolta is right in saying that you cannot pull the triggers on someone just because he is a famous personality.
Meanwhile, the super-cool actor is waiting the release of his latest film ‘Hairspray’ in which he portrays Ms Edna Turnbald – a feminine character. The film which is set for a July 20 release has already generated a huge interest.
