Kate Middleton, girlfriend of Prince William had to pull out from taking part in a Dover to Calais Chinese dragon boat race due to security reasons. The boat race will take place on August 25 and covers over 21 miles of open sea from Dover to Cap Griz Nez in France. Surely this is the price one has to pay if you are a celeb or related to someone like that.

It is learnt that she would have become centre of attraction and her presence in the event would have generated a whole lot of unnecessary publicity. The same reason has also led her crew mates withdraw from the event just two weeks ago.

The 25-year-old disturbed at the pull out had been practicing hard with fellow mates as a member of The Sisterhood for the forthcoming event.

It is quite obvious for her to get upset as her withdrawal is affecting other 21 members of the crew. The crew is dismayed, as they believe that this should have been considered well in advance so they could have approached someone else in Middleton’s place.

The crew was planning to establish new record for a dragon boat crossing and Middleton with crew would have become the first all-female team to cross the Channel in a dragon boat.

The boat race helps Babes in Arms charity that sponsors research into abnormalities in newborn babies, and the children’s hospice charity Chase.

Kate and Prince Williams’ love blossomed while attending the University of St Andrews in 2001 where Middleton was in her first year. The two split in April this year but have rekindled their romance. Recently Kate and her Prince charming were seen at the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium and Kate was also in guest list for Camilla’s 60th B’day bash.
