‘Titanic’ actress Kate Winslet would have never imagined that Nicole Kidman’s pregnancy will one day help her get a role in ‘The Reader’. Initially Kate was offered the role for the film, but she could not commit due to her packed schedule in other projects. Therefore, the role was then given to Nicole Kidman.

And now, when Kidman has refused for the film based on Bernhard Schlink’s best-selling 1995 novel and Oprah’s Book Club selection — due to her pregnancy, Kate has been once again offered the role, which she has accepted. According to a close source,

Kate was offered it first before Nicole but couldn’t do it but the dates clashed with commitments to Revolutionary Road. So the dates changed, Nicole then got pregnant and now it has come back to Kate.

Film ‘The Reader’ is about post World War II and is set to be directed by Stephen Daldry of ‘The Hours’ fame. It will revolve around the relationship between a teenage boy, played by Ralph Fiennes and an elderly woman. The filming, planned from this month, will take place in New York and the Babelsberg studios outside Berlin.

As a matter of fact, now all seems to be perfect. 40-year-old Kidman’s wish of attaining motherhood will also be fulfilled and Kate’s desire for the big role, which she originally wanted to do will also come true.
