The country singer Keith Urban thanked his wife Nicole Kidman for staying ‘extraordinarily strong and loving’ through his three month stint in rehab, during an emotional four-minute video message that was released on his website on Monday.

The country singer, who entered rehab on Oct. 19, says,

My wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving. My friends and family were there. Man, it’s just been really overwhelming. I feel so much gratitude and it feels really good to have gone through it and be where I am right now, because where I am right now is starting on that road to getting back to doing what I love which is playing music.

The Grammy award-winning singer entered the Betty Ford Clinic in Palm Springs, California, because addiction had made his life ‘unmanageable.’ He said,

There was no big, cataclysmic event that happened right before I went in. But it was a lot of small things that were happening in my life, and a lot of small moments that were starting to accumulate that were telling me very loud and clear that I was a long way from my programme of recovery, and they were making my life unmanageable.

Urban also thanked his fans for their unwavering support during his stay in rehab.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everybody out there that’s watching this right now for your support. I got cards, I got letters, I got emails. … There was hundreds of emails. I just didn’t expect that kind of support.

I truly didn’t and it helped so much especially through a lot of the lonely days, of which there was plenty.

Urban has now been reunited with Kidman, 39, in Australia. The couple wed last June in Australia, where both grew up. They live in Nashville.
