Country music star Kenny Chesney opens his heart about his brief marriage to Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger, in an interview to air Sunday on CBS’ ’60 Minutes.’ As well Chesney rebuffed the rumors that he is gay.
The 38-year-old country singer says,
It’s not true. Period. Maybe I should have come out and said, No, I’m not (gay), but I didn’t want to draw any more attention to it. I didn’t have to prove to anybody that I wasn’t (gay).
Chesney and Zellweger wed in May 2005, on a Caribbean island, but after four months later Zellweger listed ‘fraud’ as the reason for the annulment.
He said,
The only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like… that I really understood what it was like to be married.
Amid all gay rumors Chesney has no regrets and wished for divorce rather than annulment stuff. He stated that his love for Renee was real.
Last November Chesney was named entertainer of the year at the Annual Country Music Association Awards.
