Kylie steals the thunder at Jools Holland’s New Year’s Eve bash

Marvelous singer Kylie Minogue performed at the Holland’s New Year Eve celebrations this year and as expected stole the hearts of her million fans across the globe with her remarkable performance.

Sultry Kylie, dressed in a tight fitting golden dress sprawled over the piano for Jools Holland’s Hootenanny thereby soaring the temperature at the show and reminding people of her similar unforgettable piano top performance 17 years back for Michelle Pfeiffer’s film The Fabulous Baker Boys.

She performed at this function along with Jool’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and accompanied by Jools on the piano. She also sang a duet with Sir Paul McCartney. The song – ‘Dance Tonight’, was from his album Memory Almost Full. It seemed as both the stars had to face personal troubles this year, with this duet, they were welcoming the coming year.


McCartney
is undergoing the process of divorce from Heather Mills, who has already demanded a significant share from his £825 million assets. Kylie, on the other hand, re-initiated her stage performances in 2006 after being treated with breast cancer. She also split with her boyfriend of 4 years, 41 year old Olivier Martinez, in the beginning of 2007. In spite of the couple announcing the split as cordial, there were rumours about Olivier’s infidelity.

Overcoming all crises in her personal life, stunning Kylie released her first studio album after 4 years and the tenth album of her career last month, titled X. Fabulous Kylie has also publicized her plans of a European tour in 2008, which is named KYLIEX2008. The Holland’s function is a very popular television show which is broadcasted every year on the New Year’s Eve. It comprises of many infamous acts of the year and features a few legends of pop-music.

This year, it marked Jool’s 15th annual Hootenanny. Along with the 65 year old Sir Paul McCartney, other stars from the 1960s include Lulu, Eddie Floyd, Mika and the Kaiser Chiefs. Eddie Floyd acted on classics such as Knock On Wood and 634-5789. Mika’s album ‘Life In Cartoon Motion’ was acclaimed as one of the biggest new acts of 2007. He sang his most popular song Grace Kelly. Finally, the Kaiser Chiefs performed songs from their super hit album Yours Truly, Angry Mob, and Ruby.

The other performers in this show included Madness, who performed songs of yesteryear like Baggy Trousers and House of Fun. Kate Nash’s song Foundations from his album Made of Bricks was a top favourite in the summer of this year. Among the other acts on this show, were Ruby Turner and the Pipes And Drums of the First Battalion of the Scots Guards. Kylie Minogue is also repeatedly acting in the Christmas special episode of the show.

This show was recorded in the middle of December and will be broadcasted on television ‘as live’ on the eve of New Year, with Jools Holland’s countdown till midnight. Many celebrities were present as the audience when the show was being recorded. They included David Tennant, John Simm, Dawn French, Lenny Henry, Sir Bernie Ecclestone, Sir Jackie Stewart, John Culshaw, Imelda Staunton, Steve McClaren, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal and Gabby and Kenny Logan.
