Teri Hatcher’s plumping lips became the centre of controversy for painting it with the colors of the lipstick she was not expected to endorse. US cosmetic company Hydroderm was caught unaware when they found the ‘Desperate Housewives’ star sporting rival brand City Cosmetics’ lip-gloss.

Hatcher had signed a contract with Hydroderm way back in November 2005 to promote their cosmetics and anti-aging products. The contract did not allow the actor to use her name, autograph, image to advertise skin care products of Hydroderm’s competitors.

However, Hatcher found City Cosmetics products especially a particular lip gloss of the company would attach more flavour to her sensuous image.

Hydroderm dragged the actor to court for breach of contract for talking of the rival company’s product in interviews and claimed $2,806,952 as financial damage.

To Hatcher’s relief the Los Angeles Superior Court judge Helen Benedix did not support Hydroderm’s claims and blocked Hydroderm’s lawsuit by calling its claim as ‘character assassination of worst kind’ against the actor.
