The VIATec Food Bank Challenge-2005 has come to an end. The largest food bank until now, according to the Mustard Seed Bank, the VIATec Food Bank, has accumulated 65,000 pounds of food and $28,507 worth cash donations. This amount is supposed to be the double amount of food and donations that came from the 2004 VIATec Challenge. The food bank gave points according to the demands for a specific kind of food. For instance, baby foods and canned vegetables got two points and bulk food items got three points.
The winners of the VIATec Food Challenge Awards were announced yesterday at the Christmas party. I must say that a great deal of efforts and charity will feed many in the days to come. Apart from the efforts made during the one-month long challenge, the Mustard Seed Bank will use the cash donations to purchase additional food in future.
