All in the media circle were till now surprised how NBC managed scoop after scoop in the Anna Nicole Smith saga. A secret contract worth $1 million between Larry Birkhead, the biological father of her 7-month-old baby and NBC has explained it all.
An unnamed source revealed that the deal between the network’s parent, NBC Universal, was done shortly after Anna Nicole’s funeral, and that’s how all the exclusives are featuring on network’s “Today” and “Access Hollywood” programs.
A rep for the Bravo channel confirmed the last night,
NBC Universal has an exclusive contract with Larry Birkhead and we don’t discuss the terms of our deals.
‘Access Hollywood’ was the first one to grab a copy of the baby’s newly-issued birth certificate. Last month, Birkhead exclusively revealed to the show a tattoo that he sports of the deceased Playboy playmate. Recalling another instance, ‘Access Hollywood’ was the first to report when Birkhead and his lawyer, Debra Opri parted their ways.
The unnamed source added that the deal is almost over as there is not much left in the story. However, Birkhead’s lawyer could not be reached for a comment.
