There is no end to Pete Doherty and his controversies. Constantly in the news for wrong reasons such as drugs, alcohol, car-theft, abuse and assault, Doherty is now back to the headlines due to his attempt to suicide in the Clouds House rehab center in Wiltshire.
His jealousy for ex-girlfriend Kate Moss’ new beau, Jamie Hince proved too dangerous for Doherty. The Babyshambles singer and songwriter was so upset at hearing supermodel Moss was romantically involved with The Kills star Jamie Hince, he took an entire bottle of pills.
Though his suicide attempt failed and the poison being cleared out of his system, no fatal harm has come to him except being severely ill.
Besides his status amongst fans and his infamous rock and roll lifestyle, Doherty had become well known to the public at large as a result of his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss. His tumultuous relationship with Kate Moss was frequently covered by the press. They met in January 2005 at Moss’ 31st birthday party and have had an on-off relationship since.
Moss has also taken to singing at some of Doherty’s shows. On 11 April 2007 he announced Moss as his fiancee during the first of his solo gigs at the Hackney Empire, London, at which Moss also performed. Doherty planned to marry Moss during the summer 2007. Since July 2007 Moss and Doherty have broken up.
He was highly disturbed by Kate’s relationship with her new boyfriend and took an overdose of pills. According to reports, Kate was on the phone regularly while he was in rehab initially ringing him concerned about his well being, but when Pete started to quiz her about the new guy, she was evasive and it got to him.
However, his manager Andy Boyd now claims that news about Doherty’s suicide attempts are ‘completely untrue’.
