Madonna has emerged victorious in her bid to adopt a second child from Malawi. Malawi’s Supreme Court ruled today that Madonna can adopt 4-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James. The court decision overturns a lower court ruling in April which said Madonna could not adopt Mercy because she was not a resident of Malawi.
However, I think it is less of an adoption and more of stealing because the girl’s father, James Kebawa, is against this adoption. Reuters quoted him as saying,
No one wants to listen to me, I have protested this all along … I want my child back but I don’t know what to do now. Madonna cannot take her away.
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court’s ruling cannot be challenged and there’s nothing that James Kebawa can do now to halt the adoption process. I really feel sorry for him.
As for Madge, she has shown that all is fair in love, war and adoption. If you can’t borrow then steal it! Congratulations, Madge!!
