Pop star Madonna is an icon and a rebel; despite of criticism and protest by Roman Catholic Church she performed in Rome yesterday, just a mile away from Vatican City. With 70,000 fans singing and dancing with Madonna, success of the show was quite evident, but a few people were disappointed when Madonna appeared on stage wearing crown of thorns and performed while being crucified to a huge crystal cross. Some people think that the crucifixion act could have been dropped as she was performing in Italy.

However, Madonna hardly gives a damn to all such stuff. Madonna even sent an invite to Pope Benedict to come and watch. We all know this is not the first time that her actions have sparked some religious controversy. Madonna’s song ‘Like a Prayer‘ which was released in 1989, featured her seducing a black Jesus. Her religious belief ‘Kabbalah‘ is also considered as a potential threat to Roman Catholic beliefs. Her tour reaches Moscow in September and Russian Church has asked people to boycott her show because of crucifixion stunt.
