Madonna has added another £6 million feather into her cap of vast property empire. The pop sensation has bought a lavish house next door to her £7 million eight-bedroom Marylebone town house in central London.

It is not yet clear if the singer, who owns five properties in London will connect her new investment to the home she currently shares with her director hubby Guy Ritchie, and children Lourdes, 10, Rocco, six, and adopted baby David Banda, or rent it out.

Madonna was competing with comedian Jennifer Saunders and photographer Mario Testino for the priced possession of the Georgian townhouse. Her new purchase is a part of her vast property portfolio including two mews cottages near her Marylebone houses, which are occupied by staff, a the 1,200-acre Ashcombe estate in Wiltshire, previously owned by Cecil Beaton, two London properties worth £3.6 million and £1.6 millionand two homes in New York and Beverly Hills.

Madonna, 48, and Ritchie, 38, purchased their 10-room Georgian town house for £3.1 million from the designer-developer Paul Davies last year.
