Singer Marc Anthony has agreed to pay $2.5 million as back taxes and penalties, as he failed to file returns for five consequent years.
38-years-old Anthony wasn’t prosecuted his returns were being handled by an accountant and Anthony thought that the taxes had been paid, according to Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.
His wife Latin pop diva Jennifer Lopez was unaffected in the investigation because the couple didn’t file jointly.
Morgenthau informed that the singer failed to file returns for 2000 through 2004 on a $15.5 million income.
Both of Anthony’s associates, one being his own brother, who managed Anthony’s businesses, have pleaded guilty to for the crime and will pay back taxes and fines.
