Mel Gibson pleads no contest to drunken driving charges

Actor Mel Gibson who is accused of drunken-driving was sentenced to three years’ probation on Thursday after pleading no contest to the charges. Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira has ordered him to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings five times a week for 41/2 months, AA meetings per week for another 71/2 months and has been fined with $1,300. His license has been restricted for three months and have been asked to enroll in an alcohol-abuse program for ninety days.

According to a statement released by Deputy District Attorney Gina Satriano, Mel Gibson will go to rehab centre soon after volunteering for a public service program, he plans to talk to people about the hazards of drunken driving.
