Mickey ‘The Wrestler‘ Rourke demonstrated his newly-acquired skills when a group of paps tried to corner him on the subject of his rumored affair with Courtney Love. Instead of leaving it to speculations, Rourke came out with a finishing move and closed the chapter by favoring a gorilla over Love!
I never expected this from Rourke. Shunning the affair politely is a different thing but shooting a statement like “I???d rather be on a deserted island with a gorilla” is a bit too, um, derogatory. Anyway, this is a free world, and ‘freedom of speech’ is the mightiest weapon that was ever invented!
However, I’m still not comfortable with this statement. Love is not that bad. I agree that she’s a wild child herself but she’s not worse than a gorilla. Maybe Rourke needs some lessons on evolution! I’m sure someone will teach him the lessons before he forgets this derogatory statement. And why someone? Let the words spread and Love herself will show Rourke who’s Gorilla and who’s an old monkey!
