Mischa Barton has been placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The 23-year-old actress was transported to the medical ward after she intimated to the police with a distress call yesterday.

On Wednesday, Barton called police at 3 p.m. with a health problem, LAPD Officer April Harding confirmed to PEOPLE. “We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home,” says Harding. She adds that no paramedics were involved and no arrests were made, but confidentiality laws prevent her from revealing details about Barton’s condition.
Mischa’s rep, Craig Schneider, later cleared the story by saying that police were only needed to protect the former O.C. star from the media as she was transported to her doctor.
It seems that the turmoils in her life reached the boiling point too soon this time because she was not willing to accept (in the first place) that she was going through a bad patch. It is for this very reason that the sane ones advocate a self-access at regular intervals. Unfortunately, Mischa took a different route and tried to erase her pains by indulging in drinking and partying.
