Legendary funnyman Leslie Nielsen has died. The Canadian comic actor, who gave us comedy films like Airplane! and The Naked Gun, died Sunday in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. due to complications of pneumonia. He was 84.

People reports,

His agent, John. S. Kelly, confirmed that the actor died Sunday near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., surrounded by his “lovely wife and friends” at 5:34 p.m. ET, due to complications of pneumonia. Nielsen had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks as a result from pneumonia, his agent said. “Just in this last 48 hours, the infection has gotten too much,” his nephew Doug Nielsen told Canadian radio station CKNW. “He just fell asleep and passed away.”

Nielsen famously switched from dramatic roles to comedy towards the tail-end of a long and successful career and will always be remembered for his amazing comic deliveries, especially for his roles as a hapless doctor in Airplane! and the accident-prone detective Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun series. Nielsen is survived by his fourth wife, Barbaree Lee Neilsen, and two daughters, Maura Nielsen Kaplan and Thea Nielsen Disney.

R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen. You will be missed and always be in our minds and hearts.
