Canadians have elected Nanaimo Bars as the country’s greatest treat in the Great Canadian Confection Election. Canada’s Favorite Confection won with 93 votes yesterday, among other Canadian confectionaries like, Coffee Crisp, Beaver Tails, Old Dutch chips, Cherry Blossom, McCain’s Deep ‘n’ Delicious Cake, Jos. Louis, Tim Hortons’ Iced Capp, Laura Secord Chocolate and Mr. Christie’s cookies.
The votes represent the sentiments of Nanaimoite and confectioners attached with the Nanaimo bars, as they feel that being the most easily made treat and a favorite in parties Nanaimo bars were sure to be elected as Canada’s favorite and they deserve to be the treat for the Canada Day. Well the simplicity in a mouthful of crumb, custard and chocolate makes it a complete dessert in its own right and despite of the knowledge of its origin, the patriotism is unflinching.
