Novelist Peter Benchley Passed Away

peter benchleyNovelist, Peter Benchley, famous for his book, Jaws died this Saturday at his house in Princeton, N.J. He was 65 years old and was suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive and deadly scarring of the lungs.
Director Stevens Spielberg made out an awesome movie based on the book with the same title. Wendy Benchley, Peter’s Wife, said that Peter was really happy with his work.

Born in New York in 1940, Peter graduated from Harvard University in 1961. Apart from working for Newsweek and The Washington Post he used work part-time as a speech writer for President Johnson.

He had a fascination for sharks since he was a kid and it grew to such an extent which compelled him to pen a novel. He started writing the novel after he read about a fisherman catching a huge white shark.
