Oregon’s first truffle festival

truffle dotIn Oregon’s first truffle festival about three dozen truffle hunters hunted for the most prized truffles without dogs and pigs. The truffles were hunted following there smell and they are hunted by the help of their garlicky smell. The truffle lovers knew that they were hunted near the roots of Douglas fir. The three day truffle festival had workshops on cultivation, training dog to hunt for truffle and cooking truffle.

Oregon’s truffle can be spotted three inches below the surface and there are three varieties of truffle in Oregon. The truffle hunt ended with Cullen Wyne, of Oyama, who collected half a pound of truffles in half an hour. It is good to see that the truffle is prized in Oregon as much as it is prized in Italy.
