The sustainable-caught fish has finally arrived. Young’s Seafood is the first seafood Company in the world to launch ‘Sustainably-Caught’ Pacific Cod fish to the consumers in the UK. The company is the first one to get a huge supply of Pacific-Cod and to procure a certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) last month as the most well-managed and sustainable seafood Company. The Pacific cod supplied by Young’s will be shelved in the Sainsbury’s fish counters from Friday.

The fish fillets are beech-smoked in the Young’s Fraserburgh smokehouse. The seafood is going to give a real treat to the seafood lovers with its meat is white, lean and flaky with a mild taste. The package will feature chilled Young’s Smoked Pacific Cod fillets, which will be available in Asda nationwide by next week. As per James Turton, marketing director of Young’s:

Young’s is passionate about seafood so it’s no surprise that we are also passionate about securing sustainable supplies for the long term. The MSC initiative has a major role to play in boosting this process and its great news that we can now offer the UK market an MSC-approved species which offers a delicious direct alternative to Atlantic cod.

It is a great asset for any seafood Company to be able to deliver a sustainable catch as the company by that ensures a sustainable supply of fish and an assurance that the catch will not affect the eco-system. Sustainable fishing is also important to ensure that the seafood lovers get a sustained-supply of their favorite catch. As per FiseWise Program Manager Rich Boot:

Sustainably-caught fish ensures long-term ocean ecosystem health, continuance of fish availability to consumers, and long-term job stability for local fishers.
