Paula Abdul says goodbye to American Idol

Paula Abdul and American Idol are no more an item. The ninth season of American Idol is scheduled to hit the TV in January, but without Paula Abdul on the judge’s table. Paula, 47, has ended the speculation about her future association with the hit TV show and confirmed yesterday that she will not return to Idol.

Paula confirmed her departure from American Idol with a series of messages on her Twitter page.

With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day one become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. I do, without any doubt, have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.

The real reason behind Paula’s decision is still under wraps, but I think there’s a strong connection between her decision to leave Idol and the hazy rumors that she is planning to float her own TV show. Anyway, Paula’s departure has at least settled one nagging issue – Idol will now run peacefully with the “three judges” formula… and without Paula’s antics!
