The on-off boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss and Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been warned that he certainly faces jail if he doesn’t undergo rehab to tackle his drug addiction. The rocker pleaded guilty to a litany of drug charges Tuesday in West London Magistrates Court copping to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis, ketamine and two drunken-driving charges stemming from a May 5 arrest.
Doherty, wearing a dark suit and trademark trilby hat arrived more than two hours late in West London Magistrates Court where he was warned by the Judge Davinder Lachhar who told the singer that he would only avoid jail on the condition he enter rehab before August 7, when he is due to be sentenced. Doherty was given a second chance only on the condition that he entered another detox programme and committed no more offences.
He was told,
If you go to this place to have detox and take advantage of it then we will see what sentence is appropriate when you next come. But if you do not I can tell you now that you will go into custody.
Hmm! I don’t know when his second chance will turn into the last one, but for now Doherty vowed to accept the ruling by saying,
I have got no choice, have I … It’s rehab or jail. I was going to rehab anyway to be honest with you – this is just a little push.
