Pirates of the Caribbean continues loot, becomes top-grossing film of the year

After a record breaking entry last week ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest‘ is still maintaining its lead. The movie raked up $62.2 million in its second weekend, that means ten-day collection of the movie is above $258.2 million. By next weekend, movies’ collections are expected to shoot up to $305 million, crossing the collection of predecessor, 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

It has become the top selling movie of the year, up till now and the record seems a tough one to break. ‘X-Men: The Last Stand‘ which was released previously in the year earned $232 million in eight weeks.

Wayans brothers’, Little Man earned $21.7 million and grabbed the second place. Comic venture You, Me and Dupree stood next to it by making $21.3 million.

Superman Returns only managed to make $10.45 million and The Devil Wears Prada followed it.
