Promoting Modern Art through Organic Chocolates

caffeine chocolatesGood news for aspiring artists comes from Ithaca Fine Chocolates, the first US chocolate Company to be Fair Trade Certified. As per reports, Ithaca Fine Chocolates in Ithaca, New York, founded by Art Historian Erika Fowler-Decatur, announces application for the year 2006-07, modern artists to send their reproductions to the Company, out of which selected reproductions will be embossed on chocolate bars.

This is a great way to promote the works of unknown artist, through yet another medium of culinary expression.

Chocolates going haute and ‘organic’ these days are becoming a source of appeal to the passive urban consumer and they find a perfect convergence when blended with works of art. As per the advertisement inviting applications for aspiring artists, on the official website of Ithaca:

The 2006-07 application deadlines are Friday, July 28, 2006. Selected artists will be notified in September. Reproductions of works by each of the selected artists will be included in Art Bars for at least one year beginning in December, 2006. Please note that reproductions are printed on cards measuring 1 3/4 x 4″ for the small bars and 2 3/4 x 4 1/2″ for the large bars. The selected work must be available in a good print-quality digital image (300 dpi or greater). Original works are also featured in an exhibition in December.
