The rollercoaster ride has finally reached its destination and we have already raised our hands to bid final goodbye to 2010. So let’s keep the last day as cheerful and bright as we can, with some cheerful news and events. Queen Elizabeth has become a great-grandmother for the first time. Autumn Phillips, wife of the queen’s oldest grandson, Peter Phillips, gave birth to a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Wednesday. The baby weighed 8 pounds and eight ounces at birth.

According to People,

Peter Phillips, cousin to Princes William and Harry, and his wife Autumn welcomed a daughter Wednesday, making Queen Elizabeth a great-grandmother for the first time. The baby girl, whose name has not yet been released, is 12th in line for the throne. The baby is the first grandchild of Peter Phillips’s mother, Princess Anne, and the first great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. “Mrs. Peter Phillips was yesterday safely delivered of a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital,” the Queen’s press secretary said in a statement Thursday. “The weight of the baby was 8 lbs., 8 oz. Mr. Peter Phillips was present at the birth.”

A big congrats to the Royal Family and a bucketful of healthy wishes for the new baby. May the New Year bring more happiness and blessings for this family and the whole world.
