Queen Latifah gets a Hollywood Star

queen latifah2006 seems really lucky for Queen Latifah, as she has become the first hip hop artist to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Surrounded with cheers and overwhelmed with joy, Latifah said ‘I think the reason I am here is to inspire African-American women who are rappers, full-figured women to know that they can do it, too.’

Queen Latifah made her debut with All Hail the Queen, a seminal hip-hop album in 1989. She got a Grammy Award in 1994 for her album Black Region. She stepped into the world of television in 1993 with a Sitcom, Living Single. In the year 2005 she appeared into several flicks, Bringing Down the House, Set it Off, to name a few.

New Jersey native’s stint as soulful prison matron Mama Morton in 2002’s Chicago earned her a supporting actress Oscar nomination. She got a Grammy nomination for her recent Album. And the success story continues…
