Sick and twisted people often use religion to justify their sick and twisted ways. And we see the way it manifests itself not only in groups of people, but individuals as well. Religious fanatic 51-year-old Aswad Ayinde, also known as Eric McGill, believed in Doomsday- most who subscribe to the ‘end of days’ scenario believe the world will end in 2012- so he wanted to preserve his bloodline, since he was convinced only he and his children would survive. Like a breed of dog, he wanted to create “pure bred” offspring, so he systematically raped 5 of his daughters from the mid 1980s through 2002, when the mother Beverly Ayinde finally escaped. 3 of the daughters bore 6 children, many of whom have health problems as a result of the incestuous coupling. Arrested in 2006, he is only now going on trial for the rape of his daughters.

Not only did he rape the girls, he also viciously beat them, threatened to kill them if they told of the rapes and deprived them of food, to keep them in line. A self-described filmmaker and ‘softdrink entrepreneur’, he would move the family to various towns within New Jersey, even down to Florida, and home schooled the girls and their offspring to avoid being caught by child welfare authorities. For obvious reasons, he did not allow them to visit doctors.

Beverly had nine children with her pervert husband, and did absolutely nothing to stop the abuse. She claims she was afraid, but according to one article her testimony in court was calm and collected, which indicates (in my opinion) a lack of guilt.

“He was having regular relationships with all the girls. I wasn’t fighting back. I was afraid to fight back. I was afraid to ever accuse him of being demented or being a paedophile. I knew the word, but I wouldn’t dare use it because it would result in a beating.”

How could any mother sit around and watch her husband have sex with their own flesh and blood and not do a damn thing about it? Apparently Beverly even helped Aswad deliver the babies, several of whom died at birth. For 17 or so years, she let this gross violation happen to her daughters. And then when Beverly fled the house in 2002, why did it take until 2006 for this sick man to be arrested? Sick or not, he’s competent to stand trial. Which is a good thing. He will face trials for each of the 5 daughters he raped, who are now all older than 18, and has been charged with a slew of sexual assault charges including “aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, lewdness, child endangerment, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact.”

Hopefully, after all these years, justice will be done.
