When every second celebrity can create or collaborate with fashion houses to be a designer, why can’t music artists write books? Yeah! Well, this isn’t about any celebrity going the designer way but Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards signing a book deal. Reportedly, he will be getting more than $US7 million for his autobiography, a book that will trace him right from his birth till the current life. The autobiography will be hitting shelves somewhere in the fall of 2010. Britain’s Weidenfeld & Nicolson in collaboration with New York-based publisher Little, Brown and Co have secured its worldwide English-language rights.

The deal broke the records of Eric Clapton receiving a $US5 million advance for his upcoming memoir. Richards, now 63 years of age, will be the second member of the band, after former bassist Bill Wyman, to enter in the world of writing. James Fox, the author of ‘White Mischief’, a murder mystery will be helping Richards. Michael Pietsch of Little, Brown regarding Richards said,

Keith Richards has stood cool at the center of the hurricane for nearly fifty years. His story, in his own words – the band, the songs, the tours, the life – will be the most eagerly awaited book ever to come out of the hallowed halls of rock and roll.

Richards and his pal, Jagger, co-founded the band – Rolling Stones – in 1962. Richards responsible for legendary tunes like, Ruby Tuesday, Gimme Shelter and Angie, got a sudden fame for ‘I can’t get no’, the famous and hit number. As the only child, Richards was a heroine addict in the seventies and was also arrested in 1977. Richards, instead of his outrageously modest behavior, garbled speech, inconsistent playing and arthritic joints still has a large fan following all across the globe. That is why, it seems to me, that no doubt, the book will become a success for sure.
