Brad Pitt left the Universal Pictures ‘State of Play’ leaving his role vacant for yet another Hollywood star to fill in. Reports say that in an attempt to find a suitable replacement, the production team is keen to have New Zealander, Russell Crowe. Universal Pictures hope that the replacement would be suitable to take over the acting slot left by Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt.

The production house wants Russell Crowe to fill in the vacant role and have been trying to convince the star with utmost efforts. News has it that the studio spent the entire weekend convincing the star for the role of a politico turned journalist who spearheads his newspaper into killing that leads to fast rising police.

Russell Crowe’s inclusion in the cast won’t be the actors’ first stint with Universal Pictures. The Oscar winner has given a great performance in the recent Universal release of ‘American Gangster’. The studio will be hoping that this run of success continues with the superstar and that he agrees to be a part of ‘State of Play’.

Early this week will see the results of the courtship and will also determine how sour the relation between the studio and Brad Pitt is. The superstar left the movie over disagreements on the shooting script. As for the studio, the worry is that if Crowe does not agree to fill in the role before filming ‘Nottingham’, the movie can be in real dire straits.

All this brings issues whether or not actors should be allowed to have his say in the creative scripts of a movie. Over a period of time, actors grow as veterans in the film industry, but how much right should be bestowed upon them to interfere in the story and scripting of the movie is yet to be determined.

Like in this case, Brad Pitt’s interference in the shooting script was a big loss to both the star and the studio. It should be more a case that if an actor thinks he has a creative mind, then it should come out in maybe movies made by him. Taking up direction should then be their en route. Actors are present to act, if they start interfering in the studio’s projects, it may just backfire in their acting careers, because it is but obvious that a studio will not let its creative thought to be hampered by anyone, even if it meant an actor.
