Sanjay Dutt convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case surrendered on receiving a copy of the judgement from a TADA Court yesterday. He was sent to Arthur Road jail in central Mumbai.
Dutt has been sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act for illegal possession of an AK-56 assault rifle and a pistol.
Sanjay was released on interim bail in August due to the non-delivery of the copy of judgment. Nikam told reporters outside the high security court,
After reading in detail the judgement copy, the agency will decide whether to appeal in the Supreme Court against Dutt’s acquittal under TADA.
This has come as shock not only to Sanju’s film makers for whom he had been shooting on different projects, but to the millions of Munnabhai’s fans as well. We just hope that the Supreme Court is magnanimous enough to show some ray of hope for Dutt.
