The “Say it with Cheese” contest on Wednesday rolled out many exciting cheese delicacies. This contest was organized by the Dairy Council of Nebraska.
The judges Terry Landes, director of communications for the dairy council, Susan Littlefield, farm director for the local radio stations, Amy Schmid, dietitian and program director for the Dairy Council and Bill Lusche, general manager of the Platte County Agriculture Society, judged the cheese delicacies on the basis of taste, presentation and cheese qualification, in four separate categories of desserts, main course, “anything goes” and professional.
The first prize went to the Habanero cheese spread, habanero cheese spread submitted by Monica Becher, was awarded in the “anything goes” category and her nephew got awarded for the same recipe in the professional category. April Zaura’s three cheese enchiladas stood first in the main dish category, and a cinnamon almost creme cheese dessert stood first in the dessert category.
The Say it with Cheese contest also had other attractions like quizzes, cheese tastings and gifts including shirts, recipe books and other prizes for the right answers. The judges found all the entrees to be delicious and smartly prepared. Congrats to all the winners.
