Shiv Sena demands ban on burqua

The Shiv Sena’s call for a ban on the burqa worn by the Muslim women is quite justified as it is being misused by the anti-social elements for anti-social activities. The right wing political party’s argument that ‘If the burqa is to be used to steal children, then we demand that it be banned as per law,’ is quite right.

Otherwise also, what is the need of wearing a dress like burqa which is covering the entire body. Since it is covering the entire body, it is easier for the antisocial elements to misuse it. Is their any benefit of wearing such a dress, which is a symbol of dominance of men over the fair sex?

The Shiv Sena’s demand comes in the wake of reports about a burqa-clad woman stealing a two-month-old child from a municipal hospital in Mumbai.

The Shiv Sena, which is known for its anti-Muslim attitude, literally praised the French President Nicholas Sarkozy for his bold steps in banning burquas in France. Referring to France risking the wrath of the Islamic world by banning burqas and other full-body robes, Sena said French President Nicholas Sarkozy had taken a ‘revolutionary step’ to ban the burqa.

Asking the Muslim that they don’t have to get irritated over the demand, the Sena said that when burqa was banned in Turkey by Kemal Pasha, Islam did not come in between. Why is it so only in India, it said.

I think it is time India also follow the footsteps of France and takes some steps to ban the black robe burqa in the country. Every woman, be it Muslim, Hindu or Christian, has the right to wear a dress of their choice.

Long live individual freedom. Let our women wear colourful dresses.
