There really is nothing golden or exciting about having absolutely nothing to do and nothing to look forward to. Being bored in the Age of Information is simply about needing some direction, and taking the opportunity to organize yourself to do something that will bring purpose to your day, your week, and your month.
To fight boredom, with grace and ease, we suggest the following:
Start an Online Chat Group
It’s not just the youth who have become addicted to chatting via texts, there is actually something hugely delightful about getting text messages throughout the day from others in your life. With the busyness of schedules and ongoing responsibilities, there is not always enough time to actually pick up the phone to make calls. But that’s not true with texting and sharing something – anything – that is going on. For example, with increasing numbers of health concerns addressing individuals today, reading research verified reviews here would allow you to read and then share something quickly by sending a link to staying healthy with someone. Being in group chats allows for you to have a much wider opportunity to connect with others, and definitely would allow you to feel otherwise connected, less isolated and less bored.
Combating boredom with a good deed is a win-win situation. There is nothing more important than taking your energy and directing it to some greater purpose, to help out an organization or cause that you feel passionate about or that simply needs volunteers. There is a lot of need out there in this world, and having time and devoting yourself to making a difference is one of the best ways to address not knowing what to do and feeling personally undirected.
Eat With a Friend
It could be a meal out or a meal in, but whatever it is, eating and good company always bring about good feelings. If you love to cook and love to be a host, get out your favorite recipes or look for some new ones, and making your shopping list. If you are not interested in the muss and fuss of hosting, find a restaurant and make a date with someone you want to spend time with.
Go to the Library
Most libraries have a wealth of books, magazines, movies, music, and audiobooks. And membership in public libraries across the United States is still free and probably will be for years to come. Go get yourself a library card and enjoy having access to any type of information at your fingertips that your tax dollars are paying for. Libraries continue to be grossly underutilized institutions.
Plan a Trip
So plan a vacation and something to look forward to. If you are going far across many time zones, you may consider adding a day or two onto the trip for jet lag.
Making the shift from boredom into action is not hard at all once you get started. Because it’s all about feeling energized and alive, renewing your life with some zeal and zest.
And it feels very good.
