A memoir by a young “Slumdog” is indeed something worth treasuring. Certainly an eye-openeing experience, which would help dig even deeper into the crust of the slum reality from the eyes of an innocent eight-year-old slum dweller.

Young Latika of “Slumdog,” Rubina Ali is going to publish a book on her experiences. She may not be as precious a writer as big authors are, but the innocence and truth that one child can see not even biggest philosophers can ever see. Moreover, Rubina is definitely not an ordinary child anymore. The world identifies her as an unprivileged yet aspiring slum girl, who sees so much in her life, which is not expected for a child of her age.

In real life too, Rubina treasures dreams to touch the horizon one day. She wants to wave to the world like some Bollywood dreamgirl. Rubina has told the chronicles of her life in the book, “Dreaming: My Journey to the Stars.”

Rubina’s memoir might uncover a few more facets of the life of a child living in slums in countries like India – perhaps more bitter or maybe not that gross.
