The world of Internet is exciting ,rewarding and mysterious one.It’s the advance mirror image of days to come.However,it’s also mixture of pains and frustrations,especially for those souls who love to venture into tomfoolery of various types.There are many restless souls whose negligence of real life have killed beautiful relationships they painfully developed.
A short-sighted approach made their real lives a dusty affair. It goes without saying that excess of anything is always disastrous. The Internet is no exception.I have always wondered wasn’t our life devoid of distractions like mobile and Internet was more peaceful and calm ? The introduction of new gizmos in the beginning appear to provide us lots of pleasure but only in the end we come to realize what we have lost.
One can very well argue that technology has both positive and negative inherent in it.It’s quality of our relationship with them that determines their role in human life.I too endorse this view fully. However,the hindsight makes me feel that often negative usage makes such newer mediums attain a not so favourable look. I just read the report that al-Qaeda is recruiting IT professionals to make its future attacks more deadly. It does not surprise us that in past attacks some computer professionals played a great role.
In our own Mumbai attack last year the use of satellite phones played a big role. It’s no secret that hackers from China have gained illegal entry into key organizations and it’s proving a tough task for many governments to save data from falling into wrong hands. The reports that illegal transactions took place by hacking the password of bank accounts have become a commonplace affairs. One can find in one’s mail box newer fishing techniques each day wherein either Yahoo award or unclaimed money is always waiting for you.
Against that backdrop,the role of Cyber laws have attained huge importance.It’s a most happening thing in our times.The Cyber Cells involved in prevention of cyber crimes have become hot favourite for all developing countries mired in archaic regulations.They are ferociously involved in lessening the abuse of children and women,who somehow get trapped in sex racket operating in world of Internet. However, I wish to discuss the role of Internet in a different dimension as well. Like mobile Internet too has become a favourite mean to stay connected with near and dear ones. However,the world of Internet is now proving to be ominous for human relationships. Apart from the mindless online chatting that’s now order of the day,the emergence of so many social sites have opened a can of worms.Only because they allow enough scope for ambiguity.
The marriage counselors are of the opinion that social networking sites have made divorce and separations an integral feature of modern day couples. A news report in this regard confirms the suspicion of marriage experts.
“The experts believe that 40 and 50-somethings often try getting in touch with their childhood sweethearts, putting their existing relationship in strife.
British divorce firm Divorce-Online revealed Facebook was cited in one-fifth of the divorce petitions it processed last year, The Sunday Mail reports”
Australian Family Relationships Clearing House manager Elly Robinson has tried to explain the role of social networking sites in creating divorce like situation.
“Relationships develop more quickly online because inhibitions are lowered, it’s easy to exchange information, people are online 24/7, there’s an (endless) amount of people you can link up with who are there for the same reason, real life pressures fade away … it’s a bit of a fantasy world.”
In my eyes, one reason why social networking sites are very popular is that they not only allow one to hide one’s identity but also enable one to rise above drudgery of daily life. In eyes of such people the Internet makes their dull marital lives full of excitement. However, sooner or later, it becomes a sort of addiction.It’s only then some realize that they have fallen prey to vicious elements.
Interestingly, like to compare Internet with mobile. The mobile has allowed both husbands and wives to share the intimate details with distance people.Now that’s breach of trust and also a sort of dishonesty because you are sharing with others things that should have always been a closely guarded secret. Now same thing is being replicated in world of Internet.The social networking sites are full of intimate details and it appears that sharing such details is greatest passion on earth.However, such gestures only indicate at our desperation and emptiness that has environed real life relationships. The people who failed to find even one good friend in real life have so many friends in one’s profile !! That’s called a paradox of life.
Well,in the end I wish to say that there is no harm in entertaining virtual relationships but let them not bring an untimely death to beautiful relationships in real world. Let’s be extra conscious in the peculiarly elusive world of Internet.
