Spicy Deer Meat

deer meatIt’s weekend and it is time to get back to fleshy ideas. The best one that I had come across was on my visit to my maternal parents in East India. It was game meat and guess what it was deer.

Deer meat is one of the tastiest game meats I have ever had. The recipe is plain and simple:

Ingredients

2-3 lbs deer meat
Ginger Garlic Paste
Chopped Onion
Turmeric Powder
Chilli Powder
Cumin Powder
Coriander Powder
Cinnamon Powder
Cardamom Powder
Powdered Cloves
Lemon Juice
Salt
Oil

Method

1. Rinse deer meat properly in water. Smear it with lemon juice and keep aside.

2. In a pressure cooker heat oil and brown onions. Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric Powder, chili powder, coriander Powder and cumin powder. Fry the spices until the oil leaves the sides of the paste.

3. To the paste add deer meat and salt, and cook it covered along with the spices, until the moisture from the deer meat dries off.

4. Add rest of the spices and add water. Pressure cook until the meat is tender.

5. after the meat is tender transfer it to a wok and cook over high flame until the moisture dries out. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
