Firing incident in Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Ashram has raised some questions that whether the attack aimed at him or a mere incident or a story cooked by Ravi Shankar itself. As reports suggest, shot was fired at a distance of 700 meters, hitting a devotee’s trouser. Even if it would have hit the leg there had been minor injuries. Now Ravi Shankar wants zed plus security, arguing that his camps were also attended by foreign disciples and government must take this matter seriously.
Police says, Ravi shankar is telling lie. When the shot was fired he had already left the place. Where as according to Ravi shankar police is trying to mislead the case.
Let’s go the flash back of Ravi Shankar’s life. Born in a business family in Tamil Nadu, it is said about him that at the age of four he could recite Bhagvat Geeta. The same thing is said about Sadhvi Uma Bharti. He shifted to Delhi from Bangalore at a very early age where he used to live with his guruji Maharishi Mahesh yogi. Here he had learned yoga, and started organizing small yoga camps, gathering was not more then ten to twenty people. He used to go newspaper offices to get published his news.
One day he christened himself Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Though it is said he used to organize spiritual sangeet sandhyas’ on the name of renowned Legendary Sitar Virtuoso Ravi Shankar in order to ensure huge gathering in his camps. When Pandit Ravi shankar objected, he prefixed two Sri Sri in his name. Like a successful businessman Ravi shankar, patented his yog, which he calls Sudarshan Kriya. It is strange for somebody who does not care for ‘worldly affairs’.
Home minister P.Chidambaram and Director General and Inspector General of Karnataka Police Ajai Kumar Singh have said the incident of firing could have been the result of a dispute between two of his disciples.
It is hard to digest that somebody intended to kill Ravi Shankar with a country made pistol at a distance of 700 meters, when he could have easily accessed to him. No body had seen the assailant in a gathering of more then 15 thousands people. Ajai Kumar Singh says the shot was fired in the air. So much contradiction leaves so many doubts. This is not the first time that Ravi shankar has landed in controversy. He had called banned SIMI leaders for talks in his ashram. His name was also appeared in Malegaon Blast case, when the main accused Colonel Purohit had admitted to police that he had discussed his plan with Ravi Shankar.
Around three month’s back he had announced a massive campaign to clean Yamuna River, but the plan hasn’t kicked off yet.
