Starbucks to expand breakfast line

eggdsA couple of days back it was McDonalds expanding its coffee line and now its Starbucks expanding its breakfast line with breakfast sandwiches. This is called as diversity and more integrated expansion in the food industry. Starbucks is offering fine flavors on the toasted egg sandwich it has rolled out three years ago. These sandwiches, which included Peppered Bacon and Black Forest Ham, were introduced in to stores in Washington, D.C., last year, and in Portland, Ore., last month. The expansion is due in San Francisco in April and Chicago in the last quarter of this year. As per estimates the expansion of the breakfast sandwiches line will perk from 250 stores to 600 stores.

The Coffee giant’s main aim is to emerge as the inventor of fast-food breakfast, but as far as competing with the industry leader is concerned the coffee giant has to be extremely creative with the breakfast category, not forgetting the food-convenience and health foods trend. As per Bill Whitman, spokesman for McDonald’s USA:

Starbucks’ heightened focus on breakfast food comes as a compliment to a company that considers itself the inventor of the fast-food breakfast. I think there’s much work left to be done to catch up to the industry leader.
