Swiss Cheese Wins Gold in the World Championship Cheese Contest

world cheeseWe had earlier talked of the World Championship Cheese Contest, held in Madison, now it is time to tell you of the guy who took the cheese-crown away. The World Championship Cheese Contest was won by the cheese crafted by Walo Von Muhlenen, which as per Judge Mark Johnson, University of Wisconsin’s Center for Dairy Research as a troubleshooter for cheesemakers:

The workmanship that had to go into that piece of cheese was outstanding.

The cheese had almost perfect distribution of holes. After beating 1,793 cheeses in the 50 categories followed by eliminating 50 cheeses that had queued up for the title of the Best Cheese in the semi-finals, Walo’s cheese won the title in the Swiss style class.

This cheese also broke the record of last year’s title holder Randy Krahenbuhl, who took a bronze this year.
