Ageing Hollywood hunk Sylvester Stallone has pleaded guilty to importing a banned human growth hormone into Australia without a valid permit from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Stallone, 60, was found possessing some vials of the banned substance Jintropin when he was stopped at Sydney airport in February. Australia does not allow importing of such growth enhancing drugs without a valid permit from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The actor was not present at the hearing in the Sydney court on Tuesday, and the guilty plea was entered by his lawyer on his behalf.

Stallone will be sentenced next week and will face a maximum fine of $18,330.
